Message | As I said before, the US tried government energy in the 30s. It was meant to give jobs to people. And it did. For a while, until building projects were finished. Sure, it provided cheap electricity, but job loss was even worse because the government energy drove out competitive private business. Government industry does not work. We NEED compatition, for jobs and proven quality of output. |

Message | The DLP does not support this bill, and cannot support this bill. In the case of Article 1, there is no reason to alter the current situation. In the case of Article 2, this will lead to utter chaos! A privatised power grid? And who makes sure that companies are doing as they are supposed to, maintaining it properly? How are we to stop companies illegally selling power to foreign countries at cheap rates? What is point of privatising the power grid? Madness, utter madness. |

Message | Furthermore, the DLP would like to point out the 'US' does not exist in Terra. The system the Free Republic has now has worked for over a hundred years. |

Message | Of course it worked!!!!!!!!!! The system does not allow it not to work! If the people do not like something a private company is doing, guess what, THEY DO NOT BUY!!!!! That is the idea of capitalism. |

Message | The Conservative Party continues to repeat the same argument over and over again. In this case, however, it does not apply. The power grid is not something the 'people' buy. It should definitely be owned and maintained by the government, if only for the sake of public safety. |
Date | 08:00:26, April 04, 2006 CET | From | Centre Démocratique | To | Debating the Privatization |
Message | We support maintaining the current policy. |
Date | 23:39:02, April 04, 2006 CET | From | Jelbék Zemojad Lofrkad Prta | To | Debating the Privatization |
Message | Power generation is not necessarily a business. It is an essential service for the state. |
