Bill: Election of New Speaker of the House
Details
Submitted by[?]: Democratic-Social Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 4679
Description[?]:
Given that in the General Election no party consolidated an absolute plurality, we now find ourselves in a position where the previous Speaker of the House from the Conservative Party currently holds his office as an acting Speaker, but this cannot remain so we must submit it to a vote in the House. The Speaker of the House is not only the supreme leader of the legislative body, but his office also appoints the Committee Chairs for the legislative term and has great power to manage the House's legislative agenda, they also demand motions to move forward with Impeachment trials, among others. Because of this, it is imperative that we elect the Speaker for this legislative term because legislative tradition dictates the Speaker must belong to the most powerful party in the House, the one with the absolute plurality, but the Conservative Party and the Democratic Party find themselves sharing that plurality and no clear Speaker can be appointed by previous legislative tradition, so we request that the entire House votes to determine the Speaker for this term. Vote YES to support the Conservative Party holding on to the Speakership. Vote NO to grant the Democratic Party the office of the Speaker of the House. All Committee Chairs also belong to the party that wins the Speakership. |

Random fact: In cases where players introduce RP laws to a nation and then leave, Moderation reserves the discretion to declare the RP laws void if they appear to have fallen into disuse. In particular, please bear in mind that a player who is inexperienced with Particracy role-play and has joined a nation as the only party there should not generally be expected to abide by RP laws implemented by previous players who have been and left. |
