Bill: SKP VII: "MiSMB Tax Incentive Initiative"
Details
Submitted by[?]: Sozialkapital Partei
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: September 4687
Description[?]:
The SKP's plans to push the economy of the Confederation out of the hands of large corporations and into the hands of the smallest unit feasible (i.e. local family-owned MiSM businesses, workshops, democratic worker cooperatives, farms, etc.) necessitate that these businesses be allowed to keep as much profit as possible in order to limit subsidies paid to them by the Confederal government as well as to encourage reinvestment of profits into these fledgeling enterprises. Article I: Therefore, the SKP proposes that enterprises listed above shall hereby see the reduction of their tax on profits to 2% from the Confederate government. This enables local governments to increase taxes if needed to pay for essential services, although the SKP suggests that all local governments refrain from doing so in the foreseeable future. Article II: Large corporations owned by many or a few shareholders, large companies that have been franchised, and large enterprises that have thousands of employees, contractors, or so-called "gig" workers shall CONTINUE to see their profits taxed at the current rate of 14%. Article III: Within two years of the passage of this Initiative, the tax rates for the enterprises listed in Article II shall see their tax rates rise to 20%, then, two years later, to 30%, two years later to 45% and so on until such entities cease operation or expatriate themselves from the shores of the Confederation. Article IV: Upon the passage of this Initiative enterprises attempting to expatriate themselves from the Confederation or who have expatriated themselves during its passing shall pay a one-time processing fee of 30% of their total assets from the previous tax year, as well as a one-time poll tax of 2% of their total assets per employee, contractors, or so-called "gig" workers held on its books from the previous tax year. (OOC: Because the game only has a Bill for corporation taxes rather than just business taxes, I am interpreting this as all business and not just corporations) |

Message | Herr Kongresspräsident, while this is something we could agree with or at least abstain on in principle, and based on what the SKP are proposing in the summary of the bill, it's simply not something we can agree when it comes to enforcing the actual provisions. Our laws simply do not make a distinction between small and large corporations and businesses. Meaning, you're cutting taxes for all corporations to 2%. A better way to formulate the SKP's ideas into actions would've been to raise the Corporation tax and then EXEMPT certain businesses from it. We're also concerned with the very aggressive anti-corporation policies I think even some radical left parties would envy. We understand the anti-big business stances the SKP hold, but 10% corporation tax per every 2 years is very optimistic. It is first of all a question of whether or not our economy can transition so quickly, and even if it can these businesses won't just start shrinking. They will be repulsed out of the country in pretty big and impactful waves which could damage our economy in the long run. This is simply not something the Greens can support in real terms. |
