Bill: Federal Reform Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Grand Nationalist Fraction
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 4713
Description[?]:
For many years, the Prince has reigned over Lodamun as the formal Head of State, having a huge influence on Lodamese politics. PNG believes that the Prince indeed has a protocol function, but that that institution should leave the governing of the nation to its politicians. Therefore we suggest the following: |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The title of the head of government, who chairs the cabinet.
Old value:: Head of the Princely Council
Current: Vice President of the Commonwealth
Proposed: Head of the Council
Article 2
Proposal[?] to change The official title of the legislative assembly.
Old value:: Chamber of Peoples' Deputies
Current: National Congress
Proposed: Council of Peoples' Deputies
Article 3
Proposal[?] to change Privileges of nobility (if nobility is recognised by the government).
Old value:: Nobility confers titles and minor political rights, but no direct control over people or land, and is not hereditary.
Current: Nobility confers only titles and certain minor rights, but no political powers, and is not hereditary.
Proposed: Nobility confers only titles and certain minor rights, but no political powers, and is not hereditary.
Article 4
Proposal[?] to change Titles of nobility.
Old value:: Titles of nobility may be granted by the government and any other political body designated by it.
Current: No titles of nobility are granted or recognised, their use is forbidden.
Proposed: Titles of nobility are not granted, but their use is not forbidden.

Message | Mr. Speaker, We see no reason to not support these proposals, we are willing to support this act. However, we do wonder if lodamun should have a king? Who is going to be the next king or queen? Are we going to trust our nation to an individual who is chosen to rule on a hereditary basis rather than merit or skills-based? Message | Mr. Speaker, we would like to thank Mr. Authors for this input. The way we see it, the Prince would be the Head of State in name, and the Head of Government would be the political leader of the nation. The Head of Government is chosen by the Chamber, thus by the people. This means that the Prince would have very limited power. Obviously, the Prince won't live forever, therefore we suggest to deal with that matter once the Head of State is no longer with us. Rodrik Forsthaus Head of Government PNG Secretary General |
