MessageSince the increase of 5% in the GDP of this country since the Beluzia Workers Party came to power, the reductions in income tax, corporation tax and taxation of essential goods now appear completely vindicated.

Under the previous Unsubmissive Beluzian Workers Party regime, income tax rates ranged from 25% to 99% - yes 99% - of our citizens' income.
Corporation Tax was also at a staggeringly high 80%.

As a result of the increase in our GDP - higher than even this party thought possible during one term of office - we are able to reduce the levels of income tax slightly more.

There is also an accompanying proposal to lower the taxation of luxury goods from 30% to 25% - a Bill to this effect was introduced for debate prior to the election.

MessageAgain, please do not say that the taxation rates and corporation tax was my doing. I was not the one who proposed them in the first place (OOC: In fact I might have missed the vote on it), nor was I in favour of them. I could have asked for a reduction in the tax rate, but due to the position of the Government at the time, they insisted on maintaining them, and so I left it at that. (OOC: However, I might have forgotten about them during my years in power, so I apologise for maintaining tax at such a high rate)

OOC: Next time, before you blame me for anything that you disagree with, please do look at the bill history of my party and previous political parties so that you know which bills I proposed and which I didn't

MessageFor the record, I am posting data taken directly from the election record of the UBWP for the four elections immediately prior to the BWP forming.
This comprises the elections of 498, 4703, 4708 and 4713.
For each of these elections, as now, there were 500 seats available, and for all four of these elections the UBWP won all 500.
This is because they were the sole party in Beluzia and therefore held a monopoly on policies set up by its government.
I think 20 years in power with an absolute majority is ample time to have made changes to policies and taxation levels in keeping with the UBWP's position.
So, I also think it fair to consider the state of our country when the BWP came to power as being the complete responsibility of the UBWP.

Here is the data:
