Bill: Treaty Rationalisation (Malivia) Bill 4725
Details
Submitted by[?]: Beluzia Renewal Party (BRP)
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 4726
Description[?]:
The government proposes to withdraw from the Beluzian - Malivian Joint Military Operations treaty: (http://classic.particracy.net/viewtreaty.php?treatyid=4409) This government is concerned that a military treaty with any other nation needs to be treated with caution, as the nature of governments can change quite rapidly. In the case of the existing Malivia government, the BRP suspects that all Beluzian parties would feel uncomfortable with Malivia's current policy on Prisoners of War, which is that "Surrendering enemy combatants are summarily executed", which flies blatantly in the face of accepted international norms. This policy alone should be enough for this parliament to think long and hard before continuing to be a part of this treaty. It also highlights the dangers of remaining part of a treaty for many years without regular reviews as the government is now undertaking. Out of courtesy to Malivia, this government would approach the government of Malivia prior to submitting this Bill to the voting stage, adivising them of our possible withdrawal, and stressing that in so doing there would be no intention of offending them unduly nor to reduce friendship and increase conflict between our nations. |

When all is orderly, he does not forget that disorder may come. Thus his person is not endangered, and his States and all their clans are preserved." - Confucius |
