Message | Given that the Bill needs at least 50% of parliamentary votes in order to pass into law, could the Beluzian Business Bureau (BBB in future if we may?) outline what benefits the three proposals are supposed to bring? From the BRP's point of view: Article 1 - Relaxation of the current advertising ban can only lead to increased take-up of addictive and harmful substances. This is a strange desired outcome for a Bill entitled "National Health Act" ! Article 2 - The BRP changed the law on the supply of contraceptives in the last parliamentary session, so the BBB cannot rely on the BRP vote to get this particular proposal through Parliament. Article 3 - In principle, the BRP has encouraged private enterprises. In fact, again, during the previous term of office the BRP changed the law to allow private clinics in addition to the public health care system. a) What benefit does the BBB's proposal have for the Beluzian people that they don't already enjoy from the availability of existing private clinics? b) What benefit does it provide for the government if the cost of the existing system is purely to be replaced with subsidies to private clinics instead? |

Message | My apologies for the late justification, the BBB wants to give the most accurate analysis of the policies we support and propose, which is why this took time giving our justification for our recommendations. Firstly, while we understand that we can not have a laissez-faire relation, but with enough regulation, we believe that people learning about new and life-saving medications can save lives, not only by giving extra income to drug manufacturers, letting them produce drugs for rarer diseases, and creates additional competition for more common drugs to create the best product. Secondly, we believe that it's not only best for the pocketbook of our nation but its soul too, that we make sure all of our brightest young children, of any economic class, would have to have a child because of a mistake they made. Finally, the BBB is a fundamental democratic organization and believe that the democracy of business is the truest form the ideology can and will take. We also believe that if one company in the business, private or public, has the ability to influence unfairly the actions of its competitors than the democratic possibilities of the market no longer exists. A universal health care system does exactly that, by not only having the government as a backer of one company, giving it the unfair advantage of structural safety of a nation-state, while also having the ability to completely control its competitors by being guaranteed as the biggest company. |

Message | The BRP thanks the BBB for its explanatiory statements. Unfortunately: 1. The BRP interprets the policy in article 1 as relating to "harmful and addictive" substances which are not beneficial to health - not to "medications" (as used in your justifcation) which happen to have side effects, for example. If the policy related to the latter, the BRP would still not see a case for your proposal, as we would expect such medication to be prescribed only by medical practitioners which means that the general public would not need to be subjected to advertisements for the drugs. 2. The BRP can accept that there are differing views on the other two articles. However, as stated previously, the BRP has only just obtained changes in the law on both of them. 3. The BRP will therefore not be voting in favour of the BBB's proposals. |
