Bill: Minimum Wage Act of May 2213
Details
Submitted by[?]: Proletariat Revolution Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2214
Description[?]:
All the citizens of Likatonia deserve the right to a steady wave of income. Not all citizens are employed, and it is democratically unfair to take tax payer money and fund a welfare system for those too lathargic to work. Rather than provide a minimum level of income for people who deliberately choose to not work, we should instead provide an incentive for them to seek work. This is done by setting a minimum wage. As an alternative for the physically and mentally disabled persons of Likatonia, the government could help subsidise a form of income for those who are not supported by anyone. Outside of that, those who are capable of working, shouldn't rely on the government and thus, the average tax payer to subsidise their lathargy. |

Message | The minimum wage is economically inneffecient, and will burden the poor by forcing employers to either take jobs off the marketplace where the marginal contribution is less than the minimum wage set, or raise prices to enable them to remain profitable, thereby causing an inflationary spiral. Therefore, we must oppose. |
