Bill: Homosexual Military Freedom Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Social Democrat Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 4738

Description[?]:

It's the purpose of this legislation to get rid of the outdated "don't ask, don't tell" policy in our military. The Social Democrat Party believes in freedom of expression, no matter what profession a person has. Casually mentioning your sexuality is just the same as casually mentioning you have a wife back at home, or casually mentioning your age.

This bill is created to normalize open discussion and expression regarding sexual orientation. A military only is successful when united. And feeling comfortable discussing if you're a male and have a husband helps solidify that unity.

Some may say that it would cause disunity, as those with biases against homosexual people would not be comfortable around an open homosexual. But this is just the same as that we allow people of other races or religions into our military, even though there are racist and bigoted people in every branch of the military, along with in every other profession. The only difference is you can visibly see race, but not sexual orientation.

This bill is created for unity in our military. For the comfort of those who feel suppressed. And for the modernization of our law.

MessageWe are opposed to any changes at this time. We believe such issues should be put on the back foot while we attempt to improve the constitution of our nation, and that alone should be the governments top priority.

MessageCertainly. The Social Democrat Party believes that there should be no discrimination of who fights in front-line combat in warfare based on gender. We believe in the equality of doing the greatest duty one can do for their nation, and fight.
