Bill: Religious Non-Interference Bill 4736

Details

Submitted by[?]: Beluzia Renewal Party (BRP)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 4737

Description[?]:

Having successfully passed the Religious Non-Interference Bill 4735, the BRP is hoping that the coalition will continue to pursue a policy on non-interference in religious matters.

The BRP thinks that we live in a predominantly secular society. But that should be because that is how the citizens choose to live, not how any government dictates that it shall be.

By removing restrictions on religious organisations we offer our people complete, unhindered freedom of choice. If they still choose not to adopt religion, then that confirms their commitment (rather than parliament's commitment) to a broadly secular society.

MessageFor the express benefit of the SDP, this Bill is being put to the vote immediately.

There is nothing much to debate other than yes or no, because there is only one article, and the BRP's option is the only available one which is in keeping with the principle of non-interference - hence in this case there is no "compromise" proposal to be debated and considered.

MessageAllowing religions to freely promote themselves is better than allowing dangerous, zealous spreading of a single religion through public preaching, offering a religion to individuals rather than allowing them to have a choice in whether to believe in a religion or not
