Message | This proposal, as can be guessed from the Homosexual Military Freedom Act, violates our basic values of a party. Article 1 is quite troubling, as it would imply that under the conditions of a war, we would allow for a government to attack an innocent civilian area and cause tremendous amounts of unnecessary suffering and death. In regards to Article 2, it is the SDP's opinion that a solider is only effective when fighting for a cause they believe in. Why force a solider that would not be effective in warfare to fight in the front-lines? For article 4, the nation of Mordusia is one of many that treats their prisoners of war with respect, many of which do not believe in the cause they are fighting for and only are fighting because of the penalties against it (sound familiar?) The SDP believes that these men and women deserve respect following international standards. In regards to Article 5, we have already made our view on this quite clear. There are many, many women who would be a more effective front-line solider than many men. It should not be based on gender whether they are sent into battle, but simple skill. |
