Message | Why does this NEED regulation (other than you socialists are power hungry and this is just more ways that you can control people's lives)? |

Message | Simply because exotic animals can be dangerous... (that's not political issue, trust me) |

Message | But presumably not ALL exotic animals are dangerous? Why not just restrict it to dangerous animals? I'm pretty sure that one of the proposal options is more specifically geared towards animals which are dangerous. And it is a political issue. Even if we accept that all exotic animals ARE dangerous (rather than the more vague 'can be'), our position is that the owner should take responsibility for ensuring that the dangerous animals do not cause harm. Your position is that the state should decide who is competent for owning which animals. |

Message | If he says "can be" dangerous it can mean 'not all'. |

Message | His words say 'can be', which we accept can mean 'not all', but his deeds (i.e., this proposal) say all. He is asking for the power over ALL exotic animals as though ALL are dangerous. If not all exotic animals are dangerous, even if you accept (which we do not) that the government should take responsibility for those dangerous animals, this proposal would give the state more power than it needs. |

Message | Well the regulation can be that you can't buy dangerous animals or have to keep them caged. I think that's reasonable. |

Random quote: "We must show that liberty is not merely one particular value but that it is the source and condition of most moral values. What a free society offers to the individual is much more than what he would be able to do if only he were free. We can therefore not fully appreciate the value of freedom until we know how a society of free men as a whole differs from one in which unfreedom prevails." - Friedrich August Hayek |
