From | Unsubmissive Beluzian Workers Party | To | Debating the Telephone Access to All Act | Message | Telephone lines are not a government run service, they are owned by telephone companies who build, provide plans, and make rules for telephone services. And this policy does not cost government money, because it is a law that seeks to ask telephone companies to provide phone services for free, it is not asking a government run telephone company to provide telephone services for free. If the businesses or other political parties do not agree with this, we will change the current proposal. |

From | Beluzian Triumph League | To | Debating the Telephone Access to All Act | Message | The BTL does not agree with government subsidizes for as many programs as possible, would you consider changing this bill to something less extreme, or scrapping it? |

From | Unsubmissive Beluzian Workers Party | To | Debating the Telephone Access to All Act | Message | Before it was 'Telephone lines are provided free of charge to all citizens' and it was considered extreme, even by the SDP. If subsidising for low income families is extreme, then maybe we should just shouldn't help those who can't pay for telephone service? No, I don't think that's a view any party should take. Also, others who can afford telephone services will continue to pay for phone service, which is more moderate than providing it for free. We would like more input on this |

From | Unsubmissive Beluzian Workers Party | To | Debating the Telephone Access to All Act | Message | Then would the BTL support 'The state regulates the rates providers can charge for phone service' rather than subsidising? So people have to pay for phone services, but it is made sure that phone services are affordable for all so that it does not have to be a luxury that only those who afford it can have access to |

From | Beluzian Triumph League | To | Debating the Telephone Access to All Act | Message | We appreciate the UBWP's willingness to negotiate but we at the BTL simply cannot abide by government oversight on a industry that does not need it, it is a luxury not a necessity like food or shelter. |

From | Unsubmissive Beluzian Workers Party | To | Debating the Telephone Access to All Act | Message | If you live in a rural area which has poor telephone landlines, and you want to call a relative who is living in the city with a higher income, do you want to deny them that chance by having them pay for an expensive telephone service? Also, what if that individual's only way of communication is phone and does not have access to a mailbox or needs to travel great lengths to their relatives? Are you going to leave them isolated and not allow them to call loved ones? Furthermore, phone services are not a luxury. How is it a luxury, may I ask? Are phone services all provided by phone companies with nice shiny telephone lines made from gold and silver? It is a good and service that is necessary just like food and shelter. Are you going to deny a low-income individual or those who don't have any access to other forms of communication apart from a phone, or those living in rural areas access to phone service without having to pay a price just like everyone else? If you earn less than 15,000 BEL and the phone service charges say 1000 BEL, would you rather pay for such a high amount of money for the rest of your life, or would you rather have that subsidised by the government so you don't need to worry about telephone bills and can call friends relatives etc whenever you want? |
Date | 03:31:05, April 14, 2020 CET |
From | Beluzian Triumph League | To | Debating the Telephone Access to All Act | Message | The BTL Is confident in the ability of the free market to offer cheaper alternatives for the poor classes of the very few who cannot afford a phone service, even though the price is the lowest it has ever been. We do not find adequate need for government subsidizes. |

Random fact: Did you know you can change the official name of your nation? All you need to do is draw up a new name that is in accordance with the Nation Renaming Guide, pass a bill proposing the name change with a two-thirds majority and then post a request to Moderation on the "Renaming Requests" thread. You can change city and region names in this way too. |
