| Imperial Senators, We propose to the Senate a new tax system in the aim of encouraging economic growth. The backbone of this economy are the Augustan people, and with taxable income only starting at 20,000 ZAR, we believe that they will now have the spending power and disposable income to propel our businesses forward. We fully intend to extend the Non-Taxable Income Zone further down the line. With the private sector now taking a greater role in the economy of our nation, we anticipate that taxes on the middle classes, who we admit are disproportionately affected by these measures, will also be eased in the forseeable future. We ask our higher income earners to temporarily take up this burden whilst we reduce government involvement in the economy. Once we are able to reduce government spending to reflect the new role the private sector has to pay, taxes on the middle classes will be lifted. |
