Message | The Alliance sees absolutely no benefit in this proposal. The options for mayor selection are as follows: 1. Citizens elect their mayor directly in a local election 2. The Head of State oversees the appointment of all mayors 3. Mayors are elected by their municipal councils 4. The municipal councils exercise mayoral powers. If local governments are to determine the method of appointment then they would not be able to select option 2, and if they select option 1 then that is no change from the current arrangement. Therefore, the CML party must wish local governments to have the opportunity to implement options 3 or 4. Why are these options to be favoured over the current option? |
Date | 08:52:55, May 21, 2020 CET | From | Council on Mordusian Liberalism | To | Debating the The Making Local Government Locally Accountable (MLGLA) Act |
Message | The CML feels the Head of State has no place in the appointment process for local mayor's appointment. We also feel a local populace should be able to choose how they appoint their own local leaders, and not have it be dictated to them by a central authority. |

Random fact: Cultural Protocol bills must provide a real-life equivalent or short description for the ethnic groups, languages and religions contained in them, such that it would be easy for an unfamiliar player to understand (e.g. "Dundorfian = German"). Where appropriate, they should also provide guidance to players on where to find help with translations and character names. This might include, for example, links to Google Translate, Behind the Name's Random Name Generator and Fantasy Name Generators. |
