Bill: New Govenorship election laws

Details

Submitted by[?]: Likatonia First

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 4761

Description[?]:

Dem want to change how govenorships are elected.

A party with the plurality of vote is automatically given the place od Governor. However, the party which won plurality of votes has only 6 months (1 day in game) since the electionday to form another State government. If first placed party in the State doesn't form state government in 6 months period and put it on voting, 2nd most popular party is given a mandate to form government and is being given title of Governor. However, this party has as well as 1st placed party 6 month period to form state government. If not, 3rd most popular party is given a chance. If 3rd most popular party fails to form next government, caretaker government consists of only most popular party which is also given position of caretaker governor.

MessageWe think that if no one receives over 50% than the top two face off, our given there previous votes, and then parties endorse, what does DEM think?

MessageWe proposed that law. Because you have for example Lab who won Governship with 10% of vote and is requesting from Dem to go into coalition with us (we obtained 40% of votes). It doesn't make sense that party which received 4 times less seats/votes is taking senior position while other party is junior party in the coalition. That's complete madness.

OOC: You have in some countries (mostly in Latin America) where President is elected in the first round. We're not proposing this, the problem is that you can't automatically assign your party votes to the other party only because you wanted.

MessageIt's not unfair. It makes sure each government has a majority of seats and means that the coalitions will be more likley to be smaller
