BE IT ENACTED By the Chairman, with the advice and consent of the National Council, as follows, ARTICLE 1: Name This is the KP - 10 Judicial Reform Act. ARTICLE 2: Provisions i) Every person has the right to appeal against a judgement and to have it reviewed by a higher court. ii) Judges/Magistrates are elected by the public. iii) The death penalty is illegal and is never to be applied. iv) Members of the legislature are not exempt from any civil or criminal liability for their speech or actions during their term of office. v) The police cannot search a person or their property without their consent unless the police have obtained a warrant from a court or in cases of imminent danger. vi) Torture is never allowed. vii) Jurors are chosen among lawyers only. ARTICLE 3: Procedure This bill comes into force with the vote of the majority of the National Council. |
