MessageNot only does is this more beneficial for drug addicts, but it will also free up space in prisons. Everybody wins!

MessageSounds good to me, however, how are you going to treat addicts whilst on community service programmes? We need to give them supervision 24/7 and help too.

MessageOn every scheme will be a number of 'group leaders', who will oversee the activities and who will be trained in first aid, should there be any accidents, as such.

MessageWhat if they avoid their programs, will they then go on to gaol? Is this only for drug related offenses? Or does it cover shoplifting, burglary, muggings even murder? What about dealers who use?

MessageWe like the idea of rehabilitation as opposed to detention. However, what happens when a drug user is successfully rehabilitated? And what effect will this have in regards to a 'criminal record'?

MessageShoplifting, burglary, muggings and murder will be treated as serious criminal offences, although the sentences will not be lengthened if performed under the influence of drugs. Drug dealers will also be criminally prosecuted, and will undergo the rehabilitation process after their sentence is over. Successfully rehabilitated people will be monitored for a period of six months before being free to live a normal healthy life, pending no problems. Rehabilitation programs will not be added to criminal records.

As there have been three comments, let the voting begin!

MessageI'm still confused...they will be given criminal sentences as well as rehab? So...the replacing the sentence is only for people convicted of holding for personal use. 'with intent to supply' coming under dealing. Am I getting this right?

MessageIndeed you are RRP. I personally feel that this is a very good idea, as do a lot of parties it appears. You can either pledge your support or, if you're still not sure, not.
