Bill: Citizenship Act

Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2218
Description[?]:
This bill is to prevent a repeat in history. As you all know, Hilter became a German citizen even though he was born in Austria. Well, he became dictator and sent the country straight to war and destriction. This bill is to lessen this and to provide a nationalist movement for United Jakinia. |

Message | Real world examples generally don't work in this game. We live on Terra here, not Earth. Put into perspective though, Einstein came from Germany but became a US citizen. And, Hitler likely could have passed a qualifying exam to become a German citizen. It's not like Hitler had to overcome a language barrier (ie Austrians speak German too) and I'm sure he would have had an easy time studying German political culture. German law generally requires German lineage anyway to become a citizen(until very recently, Turkish immigrants have a hard time becoming German citizens). In contrast, the American citizenship test requires both language proficiency and a thorough test on American history and politics that would make the average high schooler cringe. The gist of it is, using a politically charged example like Hitler is no way to push a bill. |

Message | That's the point of the citizenship tests, you have to know the country before you can become a citizen of it. |
