Message | The BRP has amended the coalition proposal as requested by the UBWP and supported by the DSC in the bill previously debated in Parliament. To reiterate the principle on which the BRP has based this proposal - it is a coalition of the three parties which won at least one State in the previous election. And, as the BRP won both the presidency and three of the States, we believe that we have the mandate to hold the position of Prime Minister and to have more ministers within the cabinet than the other parties. However, on the basis that this coalition respects the electorate's wishes across all five States, we intend this government to be run with due regard to each others' policies and to avoid introducing bills upon which there is strong disagreement within the cabinet. We would finally ask, for the record, that the DSC and UBWP note the fact that the BRP has willingly allowed its own preferences in which cabinet positions it might have wished to have held to be given secondary priority to the primary one of forming a government in good time and in working constructively and in good faith with the other parties. Let us work together for the common good of this great nation. Margaret Tiler Prime Minister |

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections. |
