Bill: P.d.l. 01/4863 on National Service

Details

Submitted by[?]: Sinistra Ecologista

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 4863

Description[?]:

Our National Service in the army is already not compulsory and it is completely legal to opt out, nor has our army been used for anything in the last 226 years.

Our proposals are therefore to:

1) make the year of national service either in the military or of civilian national service in no-profit NGOs or charity organisations

2) make this year completely voluntary

This will simplify burocracy and give more possibilities to our young citizens

-Giovanni Ferrari (SE chairperson in the national assembly)

MessageI wanted to remember to my colllegues who intend to vote against our bill that keeping the law as it is is useless, since people can opt out anyway. At least we are expanding national service, so people who opt out might choose to become civilian volunteers instead

Random fact: Real-life quotations may be used in Particracy, but the real-life speaker or author should always be referenced in an OOC (out-of-character) note alongside the quotation.

Random quote: "The two greatest obstacles to democracy in the United States are, first, the widespread delusion among the poor that we have a democracy, and second, the chronic terror among the rich, lest we get it." - Edward Dowling
