Message | we went over this in previous bills on this subject ICweapons. The FRP has informed people on the relative uselesness of tazers. What is important and core to this is not that police USE lethal force, but have immediate acces to it if necessary and the detterence that creates in potential crime. There are many neighbourhoods where police will have a good relationship with their local community, regardless of whether they have a gun or not, so we would like to remove that as an issue too. |

Message | and before LevP rants about fascism or whatever it is that they plan on thinking of next. we would like to know: how police officers are supposed to deal with criminals with gun? How are police officers supposed to stop crime if they have no succesful way to stop a criminal? answer the questions, if you can. |

Message | Exactly! BTW guns aren't always lethal they can be used to incompacitate criminals too. Also guns can be used to shoot out tires of a car or truck if no other resources are avalible. So my question is , can a tazer do that? |

Message | good point ICWeapons, unfortunately you're preaching to the choir and the rest of them won't change their minds unless you can come up with something that is relatively incontrovertable. the problem with this proposition, of course, is that there are arguments for both sides. We even tried a proposition whereby we ban civilian weapons and police weapons simultaneously (at least there would be consistency) but that didn't work either. |

Message | Actually the cross uses of weapons listed by the ICWPC was not considered by the PP, we will reflect on that for a bit. |
