Bill: A Petition from the South: Abortion of a Usurpation
Details
Submitted by[?]: Prince-Republican League - New EAPP
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: May 4874
Description[?]:
The return of a paganism to the forefront Lodamese politics and other mildly conservative signs in the wind have also woken up minor Kregonian parties of the traditional Princely spirit and character. One of such tiny and awfully vocal populist groupings with their own Princely claimant (of which the South is nowadays filled with as all sorts of junior branches are trying their luck) published an open letter and an even more open petition to the Providencial Presidium: „...Lodamun has been a republic of some sort or another for over 1500 years, maybe far more. It was a despicable and degenerately liberal one in almost all of its’ „Great Democratic“ iterations, it was outright murderous and despotic in its’ socialist forms and although it did move towards a more organic, signorial system under the Prince-Presidential Republic and supported our own natural, ancient Lodamese aristocracy against the absurdities of modernity, the Princely system was still an immensely democratic and republican one, maybe even more so than any other system Lodamun has tried. It is thus outrageous to turn our so traditionally republican homeland into a monarchy, even a kingdom on such a whim and without lenghty discussions. Especially since there’s been almost no question about the candidates that would have to be the best of the best, almost superhuman in order to live up to the expectations of such an office. In reality, Lodamun has but a single family, dynasty who has proven to be worthy of any monarchic expectations, especially so as they’ve been quite expressly modest and humble in their own ambitions, never attempting to form a monarchy of their own force when given a chance and remaining but the „First Citizens of the Republic“, Prince-Presidents and State Elders...“ - Seemingly at least this minor grouping (and evidently at least a few others) would prefer the continuation of their old and familiar enemy in the skin of a Presidiumite GDR and not the involvement of all sorts of established foreign dynasties. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We agreed with the establishment of a largely symbolic monarchy as a majority of the Lodamese People voted for in the previous election on the grounds that the monarch stays symbolic and isn't granted excessive powers. We absolutely won't vote in favor of this, especially if it makes it easier for the EAPP to install their Prince Presidency to rule Lodamun once again. Another EAPP regime would practically ensure the rule of an excessively powerful HoS and we won't allow that to happen. Carson Larnus, LDP Leader |
