| Colleagues, I am proposing a slight increase of the tax on our corporations’ profits from 15% to 18%. As I mentioned in the description of the Income Tax Bracket Proposal, we as elected officials must make decisions that directly impact the lives of our people. These decisions can be tough, and we never seem to come to grips with how difficult these decisions can be. This increase is not, and never will be, meant to punish the corporations that exist in our country. The slight increase of 3% does not hold any purpose what so ever of driving these corporations to the brink of financial collapse, or causing them to find business elsewhere. We have yet to recieve any negative input or refusals regarding this proposal from CEOs of the largest corporations in our country, and this will have no impact whatsoever on how these CEOs pay their employees, even at the lowest level. This increase is necessary in the growth and stability of our economy. This increase allows companies to thrive, as the taxes collected will be redistributed through subsidies and programs for them and their employees that have already been written into law. This increase, along with the previously proposed budget and income tax bracket reform, will only build on the amount of revenue that the federal government will have, as well as our local governments. I hope you all will join me in passing this proposal. As our economy begins to grow under the Left coalition, I ask you all to consider taking the necessary steps to stimulate and stabilize our economy.
