Message | Mr. Speaker Is there a particular reason why the government is choosing this as an issue to deal, rather then dealing with the issue of every day Hutorians? Hon. Maya Woodbury Leader of the Official Opposition |

Message | Mr. Speaker This legislation is an affront to the Hutorian idea of marriage as it stands. We support the ideal that anybody can marry anyone without having to face discrimination, but this issue is different entirely. The government's current lack of recognition for Polygamous marriages does not infringe on anybody's basic rights, and there is no pressing need to extend recognition. Furthermore, the government's legitimization of Polygamy is likely to hurt any children born to such relationships, who's parents would have to split time. We demand to know, did the government consulted with any family and child development specialists before proposing this brash legislation? Ian Renneberg Leader of the Grand Eastern Party |
