Message | The draft is a violation of human rights. If the state is incapable of inspiring sufficient loyalty in its citizens to defend that state in a state of war, then it has no reason to continue existing. I believe, that our nation can inspire young men and women of quality to come to its defense. I believe, that an army composed of such clear-eyed recruits will be of better quality, than an army composed of angry, sullen concripts, dragged from their happy homes by police in hob-nailed boots. For this reason, the people of Sekowo ask, nay demand, that our representatives in the Council of Renner, pass the Voluntary Military Service Act. Duncan Breeze, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Socialist Liberal Party |
Date | 18:57:58, May 06, 2006 CET | From | Drake Party | To | Debating the Voluntary Military Service Act |
Message | The Drake Party believes that it is of great importance to protect this nation. Our ability to maintain our independence it in the citizens best interest since they have the ability to elect our officals. We must acknowledge that the our citizens may and most often will act in their own percieved self interest which is often short sighted. In other words they would rather not sign up to serve and possibly die and would instead allow dictatorial rule of another nation for perhaps many years to come. We do not doubt that the preferential option is voluntary service. However we must maitain the option of a draft. The Drake Party |
Date | 20:04:07, May 06, 2006 CET | From | Gecko Party | To | Debating the Voluntary Military Service Act |
Message | Although military aid is extremely important for Sekowo's defense, I believe we should let it be voluntary as well. Human rights and freedom must permit it. No one should be pressured into putting their lives in danger or sitting in a military camp. Some people aren't made for the army and would do better serving in hospitals during wars. The Gecko Party takes this bill into full account and wholeheartedly supports it. |
Date | 20:34:08, May 06, 2006 CET | From | Sekowan Freedom Party | To | Debating the Voluntary Military Service Act |
Message | While we, the Sekowan People's Party, support the sentiments expressed by the SLP and the GP, we also believe a more middle-of-the-road option may be an optimal solution. Whether or not such is proposed is up to the SLP, but SPP will withhold a decision on whether or not to support this bill in any format until the voting stage. |
Date | 20:39:36, May 06, 2006 CET | From | Pan-Sekowan Conservative Union | To | Debating the Voluntary Military Service Act |
Message | The Wei Christian Conservative Party supports this measure. We believe it to be wrong to force military service on the people. A person should be allowed to decide for themselves if they want to serve. Amy Zhongda, 1st Chair, Wei Christian Conservative Party |

Message | In my experience, voluntary recruits have always shown a greater degree of all of the military virtues than draftees at the point of a bayonet. As long as this nation is worthy of defending, there will always be enough patriotic young men and women to fill the ranks of our military with brave, eager warriors. Those who do not love Sekowo enough to fight for its freedom are unworthy to man the gates of her defence. Do not allow the Sekowan military to continue to be polluted by cowards driven only by fear of the law. Let Sekowo be defended by true Sekowans! Admiral Oliver Hume, military advisor to the Socialist Liberal Party Hero of the Patriotic War |

Message | We had previously tried to bring this to a vote. The system apparently ignored that effort. Here's another try. I will of course be voting in favor. |
