Message | (Sidenote: The bbp is under the impression that sports clubs are like football or baseball teams if we are wrong then this bill will be cancelled.) |
Date | 20:33:57, May 07, 2006 CET | From | Growth and Prosperity Party | To | Debating the Sports Club Bill 2224 |
Message | The GPP fully supports this bill (under the same assumption). There are significantly more important priorities than subsidizing the paychecks for sports stars. |
Date | 20:42:05, May 07, 2006 CET | From | Green Manalishi Party | To | Debating the Sports Club Bill 2224 |
Message | The GMP disagree. The vast majority of citizens involved in sports clubs are not "stars", and the money would be going to help the running of the clubs not individuals. Sports clubs provide a valuable service in keeping kids off the streets and in bringing communities together. A proposal such as this discriminates against poorer communities where such clubs are needed even more. |
Date | 21:11:02, May 07, 2006 CET | From | Free Conservative Party | To | Debating the Sports Club Bill 2224 |
Message | No, I thought sports clubs were places like shooting or skeet ranges. Either way, I agree with the bill. GMP, if people want to give to clubs so poor can participate, that is their decision. Or, maybe the club will give scholarship type things to the poor. I know of a few private clubs that do that. |
Date | 03:05:58, May 08, 2006 CET | From | Jelbék Zemojad Lofrkad Prta | To | Debating the Sports Club Bill 2224 |
Message | The GMP is right, we do not support this bill. (ooc: I assumed sports clubs were any club involving a sport, including small football clubs to big international football clubs, but the government would only own the small ones, for public use, obviously.) |
Date | 15:46:15, May 08, 2006 CET | From | Centre Démocratique | To | Debating the Sports Club Bill 2224 |
Message | We agree with the GMP and DLP. Sports clubs provide extracurricular activity to our nation's youth. A prosperous, generous nation like Jelbania needs to be active in promoting athletic and cultural activities. |
