Bill: End to Religious Persecution Bill
Details
Submitted by[?]: Sekowan Freedom Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2225
Description[?]:
As Foriegn Minister of Sekowo, I found it my duty to review our current international obligations (in the form of treaties), and was dismayed at what I found there. I am not a believer in or supporter of Scientology, its teachings, or its proposed way of life; but I am severely dissappointed to find that our nation is sworn to uphold persecution of this religion and its followers. In the interest of civil rights, in the interest of religious freedom, in the interest of protecting all rights we hold sacred, I ask that this treaty by nullified. |
Proposals
Article 1
Withdraw from the Global Proclamation on the Outlawing of Scientology.

Message | In the immortal words of Martin Niemoller describing Nazi persecution during WWII: “They came for the Communists, and I didn't object - For I wasn't a Communist; They came for the Socialists, and I didn't object - For I wasn't a Socialist; They came for the Scientologists, and I didn't object - For I wasn't a Scientologist; They came for the Jews, and I didn't object - For I wasn't a Jew; Then they came for me - And there was no one left to object.” |

Message | Although we are vehemently opposed to Scientology, we believe that the proper way to defeat this cult is through the use of free speech. In time, convincing arguments will turn rational people away from this abominable cult. The attempt to ban a religion through coercive legislation leads to attitudes of martyrdom, which only strengthens the cult. We will vote in favor of this measure. |
