Message | OOC: This is also my proposal for the distribution of regional cultures in Quanzar and Alaria. Based on the old region and city names it looks like whoever established these looked at Istalia as mirroring the geography of Italy, and made the peninsula based on the Italian Peninsula and the island based on Sicily and Sardinia. But given the nation's history and neighboring cultures I think it makes much more sense to base the peninsula on Central and Southern Italy (including the islands) and Alaria on Northern Italy. The peninsula is geographically closer to both Arab-based and Greek-based nations and has an Arab-based minority, while the island is close to Canrille, the French-speaking nations, so it makes more sense to have Gallo-Italic languages and culture there. This would also resolve the horrible naming system for the cities (the regions were already resolved), almost all of which are just names of Italian cities with one letter changed. So how does this look? |

Message | OOC: Sound just about right to me. If I understand correctly, Majatran shall be made as another official language in the Peninsula, where it had, due to history, a heavy influence, whilst Alaria would tend more to Gallo-Italic (plus Venetian and Piedmontese as local dialects) |

Message | OOC: Yep, that's what I had in mind. Though ultimately I want these dialects to be considered languages, just like IRL where the languages in Italy are considered dialects of Italian when they are in fact distinct languages. |

Random fact: The majority of nations in Particracy are "Culturally Protected" with an established cultural background. Only the "Culturally Open" nations are not bound by the rules surrounding culture. The Cultural Protocols Index should be consulted for more information about the cultural situation of each nation. |
