Message | Killing people is also a choice. So why don't we legalise murder? Oh yes, because not every freedom of choice is good. Your argument is a fallacy. |

Message | Fine, I mean a choice that has no adverse effects upon other citizens. Gambling should be a personal matter, it should be the persons decision whether or not to spend their money in this way. |

Message | Yes it DOES have adverse effects upon other citizens. When someone opens a casino, his action has plenty of adverse effects over the community where that casino has been opened. It lures many people into the destructive and addictive habit of gambling, which will cause them to lose their savings - perhaps their entire lives' savings - and may push them to excessive drinking or even criminal activities (it is very common for people who have accumulated large gambling debts to engage in crime in order to pay off those debts). Also, gambling establishments are guilty of using FALSE and misleading advertising - they lie through their teeth in order to convince potential customers that they have a large chance of winning, when if fact they have a large chance of LOSING. But, most importantly, GAMBLING ALLOWS PEOPLE TO WIN OR LOSE MONEY THROUGH NO MERIT OR FAULT OF THEIR OWN. This goes directly against our work ethic and directly against the meritocratic principle that you need to WORK in order to earn money, and that you won't lose money if you haven't done anything wrong. |

Message | Your main argument is about being irresponsible with your money. That can happen in any walk of life and is just a part of life. I fail to see why the majority of gamblers who can control their habit are being punished because a few people develop gambling problems. And I have put it for local governments so communitys can weigh up the pros and cons before allowing gambling in their area. I think illegal gambling is a lot more false, misleading and leads to a hell of a lot of crime. Lets not push it underground, if its legal it can be regulated so the casinos dont lie to people. It is not the governments place to be preaching about ethics or morals either. The government is not here to patronise good, hard working Endralonians who wish to put E$1 on the lotto! |

Message | No, my main argument is the one I've emphasized: GAMBLING ALLOWS PEOPLE TO WIN OR LOSE MONEY THROUGH NO MERIT OR FAULT OF THEIR OWN. By the way, it's a bit difficult to have an entire underground casino, don't you think? Underground gambling is always MUCH smaller than legal gambling. When was the last time you saw an illegal version of Las Vegas? And yes, it IS the government's place to be preaching about ethics and morals. That's what HUMAN RIGHTS are - ethical statements! The government outlaws murder and rape because murder and rape are EVIL. The government IS here to PROTECT good, hard working Endralonians from lying bastards and con men who want to fool them into losing their hard earned money. |

Message | The Conservative Party is in favour of this bill as we believe in economic and recreational freedom. Most people dont gamble to 'get rich' directly, it is a form of entertainment which is made more interesting by the chance of getting rich. Therefore, we think it is not a question of protecting people from being exploited, it is a question of allowing people the freedom to make their own decisions. |

Message | Yes for reasons previously stated. OOC: And also because I'm too tired from the HALO party to think up reasons. |
