Message | We realise this is a constitutional proposal and needs a super-majority however we took a chance and wondered if the Socialists would back a shorter term of office. Aware that four years is historic and that the last Socialist President mentioned something about six year terms. OOC: six days is better than eight, well, in my humble opinion. I actually prefer four or five days. |

Message | Six year terms are the historic value. We left them at four years as a reform measure. The SP supports three year terms when we are out of power, of course. But our concern is for legislation: as it takes 9 months for a bill to be passed after it is debated, and if it is not passed before the election it is taken out of voting, three years rather compresses the legislative season and suppresses bills. We commend the government in the speed and diligence of their legislative proposals. We would obviously prefer six year terms, but two year terms are far too short to accomplish anything but rapid fire legislation. We ask the Government to hold off on this proposal until after the pending legislation which is currently under vote has passed. At least then they could complete those bills before we are forced into an early election. We will reluctantly support this bill at that time. |

Message | I calculate this will pass in November 5065, with election four months later in March 5066. That gives time for current proposals to end voting and another 16 hours afterwards for anything else that gets put forward. |

Random fact: It is possible for a player to transfer ownership of a character or a royal house to another player. This should be done in a public way, such as on the Character Transfers thread, so that if a dispute arises in the future, Moderation can be pointed towards evidence of the transfer. |
