Message | This is a good common sense proposal. I see no historical basis for a 'state' religion in our modern nation. The greatest respect we can do for any belief system is to put no other belief system above it. By raising up no religion we raise up them all. |

Message | This is all fine and good until a special interest group begins saying the we should do away with religion altogether because it's an insult to those who don't believe in God. By maintaining an official state religion with voluntary membership we are actually respecting everyone's views. No one is being forced to practice a religion that they don't want to. All of it is strictly voluntary. |

Message | A special interest group may or may not suggest that 'we do away with religion....' but the point is that if they do suggest it, it will beonly as a suggestion. No one seriously will 'do away with religion' because, rightly, there would be too much religion. Anyone, most of the religions i know of have been around for a very long time, it would be rather difficult to 'do away with them'. Give them some credit, please! |
