Bill: Prime Minister reacts to protests

Details

Submitted by[?]: Course of Freedom (Kellins faction)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 5127

Description[?]:

"This week, people have been demonstrating against our government. This is a fundamental right and they have the right.
However, there are extremist groups and malicious people who are trying to turn these demonstrations into an occupation. In Independence Square, the passages are blocked by thousands of people. Blocking a public place is not a demonstration but an illegal occupation. These extremists must stop immediately and leave the place. In a democracy, no one has the right to take over a public place."

Home Secretary Sarah Straughan ordered the police to evacuate Independence Square 5 days after the occupation began.

--------------------------------------

The police asked the demonstrators to leave the area using a loudspeaker. After several announcements, the evacuation started.
Using water cannons, batons and pepper spray, the police managed to clear the Independence Square after 2 hours of conflict.
Once neutralised by the police, the demonstrators were handcuffed, sometimes gassed or beaten again and taken to the police station.
1342 demonstrators were injured as well as 18 police officers.

Sarah Straughan said that the police "did a good job".
