Description[?]:
The Social Devolutionists are firmly of the opinion that religion, whilst it may by individual choice be important in governing the lives of individuals, has no place in the governing of a modern nation. The persona decisions between a citizen and their god or gods, is no business of the government whther for good or ill. The second of these articles was proposed by the dr a few years ago, and whilst defeated I think it made sense then and still does now, I will only say what I said then, by treating all religions equally we respect all religions, by raising no religion above others we raise them all. The first article flows from my initial statement. If religion has no part in government, then government should have no part in religion, and that includes decisions on advertising or promoting religion. I considered whether in this cas there should perhaps be a ban on religious advertisements all together, but whther the government involves itself by banning ads on a case by case basis or banning all ads we are still involving ourselves, and in my opinion should not do so. I trust our defamation laws to protect individuals who may be aggrieved by individual advertisements. |
