Message | Because I don't want the government to rob me to fund a system that doesn't work. If you and your socialist buddies want to get together and form a voluntary healthcare association, you are entirely welcome to do so - that is your right in a free society. Just don't force me to join it and then steal my money. |

Message | why do you say public health doesn't work? there are many good examples all around the world. And if healthcare is entirely private, then that means private health institutions will have to get payed to provide a very expensive service, thus healthcare almost impossible to many people. |

Message | "why do you say public health doesn't work?" Because I live in Canada. "there are many good examples all around the world." I'm sure there are. You can model your voluntary system on any of those at your discretion. Just don't force me to participate in a compulsory system. "And if healthcare is entirely private, then that means private health institutions will have to get payed to provide a very expensive service," If healthcare is public, then that means public health institutions will have to get paid to provide a very expensive service. Indeed because public health has none of the performance pressures of the private sector (it can take whatever money it likes at gunpoint, and it can do it secretly using stealth taxes and inflation) it can do an extraordinarily bad job, charge grossly excessive amounts and continue to exist endlessly. "thus healthcare almost impossible to many people." We have another word for 'almost impossible', we call it 'possible'. Yes, some people are going to have to make sacrifices to pay for what they want (or need). That's life. You can reduce the risk through insurance or through healthy living or whatever, but ultimately if you want someone to provide you with medicine, you have to accept that it will cost money, if you want someone to look after you in a hospital, you have to accept that it will cost money, if you want Xrays and MRIs, you have to accept that it will cost money. I would recommend that if you are not hugely wealthy you may want to pursue sound financial (and lifestyle) planning. |
