Bill: Five day working week for legislators
Details
Submitted by[?]: Covenanters (IA)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: November 2239
Description[?]:
As one of the many who missed a vote this weekend I propose we return elections to their former place, mid weekend, enabling members of this house to take their weekends off without the fear of missing important votes (as bills are reset for an election, giving us 7 months before and 8 months after an election to spend time away without missing anything). We propose to achieve this by stretching the current term by 6 months (24hrs) until such a time as we are able to call the elections at the right time. Then we propose changing to a 43 month term (7days, 4 hours) allowing future problems to resolve themselves with the use of early election motions. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The length of a legislative and executive term, in months. Should be between 24 and 72.
Old value:: 42
Current: 60
Proposed: 48

Message | This would involve negating the 42 effect. Too heavy a price, sorry. |

Message | Why? We had a good thing going with elections falling at weekends. A new party messed this up by calling an election on Monday or Tuesday. I tried to rectify this with my own ealry election motion but it triggered too early, resulting in our current Thursday/Friday elections. Once we have the election returned to Saturday we can go back to a 43 month/7 day cycle (I'd prefer a 43 month cycle, but we can debate that another time). |

Message | The main reason I'm voting against is that I want this election to come as soon as possible so we can start geting rid all the facist bigots that are currently in power |

Message | That didn't work too well then did it? Had this legislation passed I'd have started an early election motion today. |

Random fact: It is not allowed to call more than 5 elections in 5 game years in a nation. The default sanction for a player persisting in the early election tactic will be a seat reset. |
