The Food Safety and Regulation Act is a proposed bill that’ll increase regulation and safety in the food and beverage industry in order to keep our citizens safe and be more aware of what is in the food they are consuming. Article One states that with the passing of this bill, all ingredients must be listed on food and beverage items to increase transparency with the consumers. Article Two states that the federal government will encourage companies in the food and beverage industry to start using labels on their products. However, the federal government will not enforce these companies to use labels but if they do use labels, they are to require to follow articles one and three of this bill. Article Three states that any ingredients that has GMOs and/or chemicals used in agricultural/processing must be listed on the labels. This will also help with bringing more transparency with the consumers. Article Four states that Food and Safety Standards will be required but not on a federal level as these standards will be decided by the local governments.
