Description[?]:

The Solentian National Defence Forces are the Armed Forces of the Ahmadi Emirate of Solentia. They consist of the Solentian National Army, the Solentian Air Force and the Solentian Navy. Additionally, the Solentian National Police Force and Solentian Local Police Force are also considered a part of the SNDF, although falling under the Interior Minister rather than the Defence Minister. Tribal militias provide an additional, if inconsistent, armed force.

==Solentian National Army

Strength – 135,000

Organisation – The SNA is organised into six Divisions, with an independent Guards Brigade (in a Light Role) to protect the Emir and an Airborne SF Support Brigade. Each Division is geographically associated with a Wilayat, and a further Division provides a strategic reserve capability around the capital Oda. The Divisions in Saspain and Dostopo are stronger as they protect the northern border with Kafuristan.

Overview – Much of the equipment is out of date. The quality of soldiers can be very mixed. However some formations are considered good.

==Solentian Air Force

Strength – 25,000

Organisation – 4x Fast Jet Squadrons, 4x Rotary Wing transport Sqns, 2x Rotary Wing Attack Helicopter Squadrons, 3x tactical airlift squadrons, 1x Maritime Patrol Squadron, 1x ISR Squadron. There are three Air Defence regiments that protect the Kafuristan border and capital.

Overview – The Air Force is under funded and under equipped. The Air Force is designed to operate closely with the Army, providing airlift and close air support. There are limited maritime patrol capabilities. No air to air refueling, airborne command and control or early warning capabilities. There are extensive issues with training, maintenance and serviceability of aircraft. However, some units are of a good quality.

==Solentian Navy

Strength – 20,000

Organisation – The Navy is split into two commands that cover the Sea of Lost Souls and the South Ocean. The is a small Marine Corps (~1,000) that provides security at Navy facilities and small parties sail on most warships. There is also a small Navy Air Force that operates a number of Rotary Wing aircraft

Overview – The Navy is small and under resourced and is regarded as a “Brown-water Navy”. While the Navy has several capital warships (eight frigates and four destroyers) and three submarines, these are primarily used to patrol off the coast. Larger numbers of small vessels provide security in vicinity of major ports and key rivers. The Navy is typically used to support

==Solentian Special Forces

Strength – ~7,500

Organisation – 1x SF Brigade organised into 8 Commando units of ~500 men. A small SF Rotary Wing unit provides airlift capability.

Overview – The Special Forces (SF) are organised into a Special Forces Brigade. Although a part of the Solentian National Army, the SF have their own command structure and HQ.

==National Directorate of Security (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=657572 and http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7182&start=730#p178227)

Strength - 10,000

Organisation - The primary intelligence organisation in Afghanistan, the NDS also have five commando units that provide support to the SNDF and National Police operations.

Overview - Well equipped with light weapons, the NDS is utterly loyal to the government and highly capable.

==Solentian National Police

Strength – 20,000

Organisation – Organised intro six districts corresponding to the Wilayats and capital.

Overview – The Solentian National Police are much better armed and less corrupt than the local police. They tend to be more security focused than actively involved in standard policing. Will often be surged into areas with problems for short periods and then depart as the situation improves.

==Solentian Local Police

Strength – 120,000

Organisation – Broken down to each Wilayat and very localised.

Overview – Poor quality, heavily corrupt, primarily focused on local “policing” which involves fighting local tribal militias and drug lords.

==Solentian Tribal Militia’s

Strength – Unknown

Organisation – Each tribe has a militia of varied capability. Some provide support to the Local Police, others (especially along the Kafuri frontier) are capable of being integrated into operations with the Solentian National Army.

Overview – A Tribal Law bill was introduced in 5111 (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=657624) which effectively made the tribes self-governing. A seperate law in 5139 gave them the right to form militias (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=675462).

==Training and Equipment

Since at least the 5110's Istalia has been a key source for purchasing equipment and providing training to the SNDF (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=657674). Deltaria has also previously been a source for weapon systems (http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4398&p=178717#p178717).
