MessageMr Speaker,

I have called this statement today as I am announcing that I will not lead the LNP into the next election, I will resign as LNP Parliamentary Leader before the election. I have made this decision because I feel I have taken the party as far as I can and I believe fresh leadership is required.

I believe my tenure as Leader of the LNP was one of genuine reform, most notably under my premiership we began the mass expansion & reinforcement of our armed forces. We also increased the education & health budgets by record amounts.

I can confirm that my party has unanimously decided my successor will be Lauren Wright, she will be our party’s youngest ever Parliamentary Leader being just 31 when she will assume the role, as well as the first female parliamentary leader of the LNP in more than 3 decades.

Lauren has stated her intentions to continue with the current coalition structure after the next election should a LNP majority government be infeasible.

Wilfred Moore,
1st Deputy PM
Minister of Internal Affairs
Parliamentary Leader of the LNP
