MessageMr Speaker,

Of course it is essential that our workers have the right to strike, so that they may fight for their deserved recognition, quality of working standards and pay. However, as a country we must recognise that striking, particularly in vital sectors such as the public health service and emergency services can cause major disruption and in some cases unnecessary loss of life. To prevent this we are suggesting vital working have the right to strike but must guarantee a minimum service so that our public services continue to run smoothly and so the workers can fight for what they deem fair conditions and pay.

Leader of the Opposition & LNP
