Bill: Right to Life

Details

Submitted by[?]: Romantic Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2250

Description[?]:

Point 1: The unborn fetus has as much a right to life as any other individual.
Point 2: In our socialist state, women are not forced by economic or social circumstance into being unable to support a child, both by our generous child aid and our open adoption system. There is no legal stigma towards single mothers, nor is there economic pressure.
Point 3: The state adoption system is perfectly prepared to shoulder the burden of children who would have been aborted, (considering that their number is low, being a fairly new "freedom") and sterile and homosexual couples are more than willing to aid.
Point 4: Morally, the right to an abortion overlooks the key tenets of our socialist mores. It denies commitment to others, it denies compassion, it denies the dignity of human life and it abstracts the act of killing. It encourages the oppression of the weak by the strong, and affirms a commitment to greed and pleasure over moral good.

Ultimately, I would like to remind the assembly that their lives would have been quite different had they been aborted.

MessageThis is a blatant attack on the freedom of Alduria's women by an increasingly conservative group. Although professing to be a liberal or even at times a 'socialist', the position of the romantic party in the 'centre ground' rather than wholly supportive of the revolution is increasingly forcing the party into alliance with the most reactionary elements of the aristocracy and bourgoisie - ie the AOP and JP. This legislation amounts to physical abuse of women by denying them the right to make decisions about their own bodies and reproductive capability, we cannot allow this to pass.

MessageAs the only other morally progressive party in Alduria, we fully support the RNP's position on what can only be described as a Bill from the Dark Ages.

MessageIt is not "morally progressive" to allow slayings on demand.

It is not "morally progressive" to deny people's obligations to others, nor to deny the dignity of human life.

It is not socialist to allow the killing of the weak by the strong. It is not socialist to submit to bourgeois vices of promiscuity and rootless wanderings.

WE stand on high moral ground, we stand for the true tenets of socialism. You have tainted it with flawed capitalist wishes and with far too great an emphasis on the individual. Your so-called "liberal" politics are nothing more than treachery to socialist ideals, an attempt to create a truly capitalist state, one of debauchery and parasitism.

MessageTruly, what is an emphasis on individual rights other than a liberal-capitalist invention? The undue influence you place on them seems to throw ideas of solidarity and group responsibility to the side.....

We stand for social duties over liberal debauchery/individual rights.

MessageFine, call me a conservative. If thats what it takes to believe in social duties above capitalist debauchery, then we are conservatives.
