Status[?]: passed

Voting deadline: November 2249
Description[?]:
How about it? I suggested lowering the head of government and the internal affairs budget because the internal affairs was grossly overfunded if we compare it to the foreign affairs, and because I have no idea what the head of government does anyway and why he would need about 1/40 of the entire budget. About the health and education and those things, I lowered it because we can lower tax a bit and people will have extra money over which they can invest into health care or whatever they want. Food and agriculture? What the hell is that? They can have 1. You know, I live in Sweden, and we have membership in the European Union. We pay LOADS of money each year, from which alot, like half or something if I remember correctly, goes to agriculture. Therefore, Italy, Spain, France etc. gets alot of money just because they have much of that. It's not fair. So are we going to give farmers subsidies? The last two then! I didn't really think much when I changed them. We still have an amount of money in there if we need to produce tanks and protect the monkeys, but I think we can buy weaponry from private companies as well. Maybe. Tell me what you think about it. If it goes through we can lower tax which is good for growth. |

Message | In answer to your question, food and agriculture is where the government takes your money and gives it to wealthy but inefficient farmers to keep them doing a bad job. This makes your food more expensive. Typically it is coupled with tariffs or other import restrictions so that truly competitive third world producers (who also have much more at stake) cannot sell their wares. Finally, to make absolutely sure that people from pesky poor countries won't put our fat farmers out of business, we dump the surpluses produced here on the poor countries to do as much harm as possible to foreign producers. Opposing this grotesque policy has been for many years a central plank in the Liberty Party's manifesto. Fortunately we do not have any agricultural subsidies in Trigunia, so one has to wonder where the TRA500 million currently being spent is going?! The European Union might give us a hint (massive fraud). |
