Bill: 2250 Redefinition of Citizenship

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

As the Illegal Alien Act looks to pass unanimously, it will be a useless law if nationality is not better defined. Nationality shall be limited, softly, and immigrants shall be allowed to apply.

MessageYou shouldn't have to take a test to gain nationality. The Independent Wantuni Republic is open to all kinds of people as are many other nations.

MessageThen what's an "illegal alien" within the Independent Wantuni Republic? If anyone can enter, claim nationality, and then automatically be a citizen (all nationals are citizens), then why have integration centers for "illegal aliens"?

MessageAn illegal alien is someone who comes in from another country illegally because they are not registered as a citizen of our country. As they are not registered they can get away without paying taxes. Someone who claims nationality obviously has to register so they aren't considered an illegal alien.

MessageRegarding the Okono Party's second comment (and the Better Tomorrow Party appreciates the explananatory third comment), the Independent Wantuni Republic is a great place. Surely people will be willing to take a quick test, just to show that they know what they're in for when they arrive. Like the absence of laws against public sex. That could shock the unprepared.

MessageIt doesn't specify what kind of test. It could be a test regarding the structure of the government, basic laws, and so on.

Random fact: Particracy does not allow real-life brand names (eg. Coca Cola, McDonalds, Microsoft). However, in the case of military equipment brand names it is permitted to use simple number-letter combinations (eg. T-90 and F-22) borrowed from real life, and also simple generic names, like those of animals (eg. Leopard and Jaguar).
