Message | We just changed it a few days before you joined. ;) We oppose. Children should be allowed to work too in order to help with family income. Besides that means movies can't have children in them, along with several other things because that would be considered child labor. |

Message | Well, it will give the Better Tomorrow Party a chance to take a losing stand on a meaningful issue. ;) It would mean that movies can't have children in them? That's absurd. What definition of child labor includes acting? Surely "laborer" refers to factory and agricultural workers, not acting and sweeping the floor in your parents' store. |

Message | Didn't you ever hear that they have to give children frequent breaks in movies because of labor laws? |

Message | So let them have breaks, and eat cake, and all that. All these labor debates would be better if we had employment statistics. Do midgets have high unemployment? This will help them. What about baby-faced actors who can't convincingly play twenty-somethings? The Better Tomorrow Party hierarchy goes to the movies at the behest of lady friends only. We couldn't really care less what happens to child actors. On the other hand, when they turn 16/18 we might suffer an electoral backlash... |

Message | You want to ban child labor not give them breaks! Right now we are regulating it with laws to protect them from over working. Your interest is not with the children as you even stated yourself but for your own wants/needs. You have the wrong idea about the Independent Wantuni Republic. We put the people first, after our own needs. |
Date | 02:50:35, July 08, 2006 CET | From | Hiroshima Party | To | Debating the Child Labor |
Message | We oppose this bill because if the bill that the adult age passes the adult age will be 18 and kids 16 may have families already. |

Message | The joke about newly unemployed child actors voting against the Better Tomorrow Party when they come of age? That was a joke, first of all, and it was -- as stated -- against the self-interest of the party. The issue is the definition of labor. Labor and work are not the same -- the law should be understood to ban using children to clean factory machinery (their small hands fit into the gears much better than adult workers). This is early twentieth century progressive stuff here, nothing particularly radical. |
Date | 23:44:44, July 08, 2006 CET | From | Okono Party | To | Debating the Child Labor |
Message | Labor can be defined as productive work. This covers all types of work not just the labor you are talking about. |
Date | 18:18:39, July 09, 2006 CET | From | Federalists Party | To | Debating the Child Labor |
Message | We can understand wishing to ban child labor (we have seen in the early industrial age that they were taken advantage of), however in this day and age things have changed. Just try getting a job at any workplace if you are under 18. How many times have you seen signs for "Help Wanted - must be 18 or over). We believe that this stifles employment opportunities for those who are after summer jobs and the like. Therefore we must vote no. |
