Message | These reforms are needed because? They are useful how? Do you wish to drive our nation into the gutter/toilet? |

Message | I wish to make this nation more socially responsible and do a better job of providing for the poor, that's what. Many European countries have adopted similiar policies and I don't see THIER economies struggling. They are amoung the most developed in the world, in fact. |

Message | In any case, having no pension system is ludicrous. What happens to those who are too poor to save up? We should do a better job of providing for the poor and elderly. |

Message | "I wish to make this nation more socially responsible" By stepping and doing things for them? "do a better job of providing for the poor" The poor get plenty of cash already in the form of subsidies for utilities, child benefits and so on. How does nationalising the energy industry help the poor? How does regulating advertising help the poor? How does operating a *state-owned space program* help the poor? Its all just a massive egotistical rush for power. We've seen it before with every socialist party. "Many European countries" http://www.takeforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=848&mforum=particracy "Rule #3 The game universe is fictional. It has no relationship whatsoever with the Earth, aside from that fact that all its inhabitants speak a language that is coincidentally very similar to English. Hence, do not use references to signific historic events of Earth history, as it is inappropriate. Some minor references to concepts (not people) are possible, like "spaghetti" (there's no Italy in Particracy, but you're free to refer to spaghetti), but references to Hitler, Stalin, Bush or Charles Chaplin are inappropriate. " OOC: Besides, most European nations' economic growth is actually negative with high unemployment. It is the economically liberal states, like Ireland, that are the real success stories. "In any case, having no pension system is ludicrous. What happens to those who are too poor to save up? We should do a better job of providing for the poor and elderly." Who would accept a job where you don't have enough money to meet basic living requirements? Like I said earlier, the poor (which probably includes the elderly) are adequately cared for. The elderly have been warned for decades to set aside some money for the future and they have. Its called responsibility. |

Random quote: "If democracy is ever to be threatened, it will not be by revolutionary groups burning government offices and occupying the broadcasting and newspaper offices of the world. It will come from disenchantment, cynicism and despair caused by the realization that the New World Order means we are all to be managed and not represented." - Tony Benn |
