Message | How does this protect Lodamuns? Those who go on strike without reasonable reasons not only damage the economy, but have a negative effect upon other workers, who lose wages etc because another businesses workforce have gone on strike. As for a minimum wage, it must be remembered that having a minimum wage will cause many businesses to collapse, as they can no longer afford to continue as a viable business. Shouldn't the government be trying to increase the number of jobs? |

Message | First, strikes are done to improve working conditions. Second, if a company cannot withstand treating its empoyees as human beings then it should not survive. Being payed less than a living wage is just as bad as being unemployed. You still can't survive. |

Message | If a strike is caused by a desire to improve working conditions, then that would be a reasonable reason, and the employee would not be liable to lose his job under the current law. The changes proposed means that a worker could go on strike for any reason, which is a foolish policy to persue. DSPL that cannot be the case, earning a wage is more helpful that not earning a wage. Also one must consider that it is those who have time on their hands who are more likely to be drawn into cases of civil unrest or antisocial behaviour. There are many good companies who don't have a big enough income to afford a minimum wage, this is not becase the companies mistreat their employees, this is because it is all the company can afford. |
