Bill: The Biological Weapons Removal Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Social Devolutionist

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2260

Description[?]:

The defence of Vanuku should not rely on our posession of these odious, and cowardly weapons. The parliament of Vanuku has voted to maintain a nuclear deterrent, it has also voted to provide for conscription in times of war, we have a well funded inteligence service. We have many and effective ways to defend ourselves, we do not need chemical and biological weapons.

It is no argument in favour of these weapons to suggest that our enemies have them and may use them on us. We have nuclear and conventional weapons, these can respond to any attack against us as effectively as chemical weapons. These can act as an effective deterrent against attack, and whilst such weapons carry with them their own risks, they do not run the risk of releasing dangerous chemicals or biological agents into our nation.

I propose that research continue in relation to such weapons however in order that effective neutralising agents might be discovered. The best weapon against a nerve agent is not another nerve agent, but something that will render it harmless.
