Bill: MLP Safe Prostitution Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Telamon Patriots' Bloc
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2260
Description[?]:
Prostitution is not, at heart, dangerous. Having safe, protected sex is in no way life threatening. The danger in prostitution is caused by side effects - STD's, pimps, failure to report rapes for fear of being prosecuted yourself. The MLP proposes to the Parliament that we fully embrace and run prostitution in Telamon. Having it government run will allow us to monitor the spread of STD's, reduce organized crime associated with pimping, and will drastically reduce the amount of sexual violence against prostitution. Prostitution will also fall under the Luxury Tax, soon to be increased to 30%, so it will fund needed public works projects and social services. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The right for a person to prostitute himself or herself.
Old value:: Prostitution is illegal.
Current: Prostitution regulation decisions are left up to local governments.
Proposed: There is a state monopoly on prostitution.

Message | Would you like to be minister for prostitution? I will not vote yes on this, rather, I will probably abstain. |

Message | You bring up a good point as to which department this would fall under. Irrelevent for gameplay, but still something interesting to think about. |

Message | This is even too insane for us. We will vote no, and we urge the CUP to vote no as well. Prostitution is an ugly and degrading practice, and ruins the lives of too many women. The CUP should oppose it on the grounds that it is an absolute affront to basic moral values. We will opppose it because it teaches that even selling one's body to another is legal. |

Message | The C&UP should abstain or else they'll be going on the record as agreeing and submitting to fasco-communists. |

Message | Glad to see the CUP voting against, now we can abstain with a good conscience and avoid this painful hit to our big government standing. |
