MessageThis is sensible, but do we need such a large surplus?

MessageAwful, absolutely awful. You've slashed our budget by two-thirds. You've cut funding towards maintaining our public mass transit system almost entirely. You're reeking havoc on our public education system. Our public healthcare system will collapse. Foreign aid is utterly forgotten. Investments in technology and science gone. Exactly how are we supposed to subsidise drugs for seniors when we only spend 500,000,000 on research and subsidies and other science costs?

The DLF will not allow the C&UP to destroy the Telamon Commonwealth any longer. Your class elitism is disgusting.

MessageWhen first I set out on this budget, I thought as you do. I did not want to cut funding to education and suchlike things. However, this country only has about 70.000.000 people. There simply is not the citizenry to justify the sort of spending we used to have. Don't worry, I am gradually ratcheting up income tax and with it, the budget. We have no clue what kind of value the TPD has though we could guess about $500=1TPD. Even if 1TPD=$1, we do not even have as many kids to educate as Britain, so there is no call for 10 million TPD. We are about the size of Spain, so the other budget cuts are roughly reciprocal. Most of the cuts to health, industry, etc. are the result of privatisation. Again, we do not need the copious investment for our few people. I don't think we can control foreign aid, again, this is a developing tool for both the game and myself. Most drugs I have researched cost 10 hundred thousand to develop, meaning that if we paid completely for the drug, we could subsidise around 50 new medicines a year. Not too shabby. I do encourage the Rt Hon. gentleman to reconsider, keeping our size in mind.

Random fact: Particracy is set in the fictional world of Terra, which mirrors the real world of today and yet is not quite like it.

Random quote: As for rape, of course, that is a direct consequence of the capitalist system of oppression. Capitalism relies on fuelling division and resentment to sustain itself, and so it sets men against women, race against race and so on. Men rape women because they are being oppressed by capitalism, so they take it out on women. Under Communism, there will be no rape, because there will be a full and natural harmony and equality between the genders. ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party
