Bill: No more prostitution

Details

Submitted by[?]: soccer_trekkie Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2073

Description[?]:

Prostitution should be illegal. The sex trade serves only to increase the rate ot STI's (Sexually transmittend infections) It is harmful to people's physical and mental states, it breaks up families, and nobody really wants their kids to see a prostitute on the street in front of their house, or let their kids play outside when there is a prostitute there.

Messagesry, bud, but no. People have the right to sell there bodies, no matter the price. It should not be the problem of the government if they are willing to harm there own bodies. Also Illegalizing it would bring it underground.

MessageProstitution will exist whether we want it to or not. The best way to deal with the problems you brought up is through regulation - if regulated, prostitutes can be screened for diseases and given free condoms, combatting the spread of STIs and STDs. Also, if the trade is regulated we can ensure all prostitution happens in one district, so there is no conflict with residential streets.

MessageHave you read the laws on prostituion? I made sure that they were extremely tough! So STIs and what not have reduced since the laws were put into effect.

MessageI understand that the laws right now are strict, but by having it legal you are telling hte people that it is okay. Yes it is their choice, but it should not be considered a good thing. Even if it is illegal STI testing, condoms and so forth can still be provided as I have seen happen in other countries. I do not think it is good that teens who are having trouble look at prostitution as a viable option. I think making it illegal will reduce that.

MessageIt may be illegal under 21, but that does not stop people under 21 from looking at that as a possible option fot their future. If you family is really poor, and you see a prostitute that makes more money in a few hours than your parents do in a day, that could look very appealing. Would you want your kids to see that?

MessageI think that people aged 21 are sufficiently mature to make their own decision when it comes to prostitution.

MessageWe will stick with the status quo for now, it doesn't seem to be a major issue in our opinion. More education will make prostitution a less than desireable career choice.
